Starting the Conversation.

Entering into a conversation about inviting a private caregiver into your home is daunting. Some fear even looking for help for that reason alone. Ultimately however, our clients look for help out of love, concern, and caring for their family.

Conversations with the person needing care typically happen when the need is urgent. A fall in the house. Recovering at home from surgery. Needing help using medical devices or taking vitally important medication. A serious illness or death of a spouse, that leaves the surviving spouse vulnerable and needing day-to-day assistance.

Though we all want to be able to stay in our home, without home caregiving help, it may become impossible.

Based on our years of experience with clients, we know that the best time to begin these conversations is well in advance of a crisis or urgent need. Starting this talk early, even if the need for in-home health care seems decades away, makes things significantly easier when the time comes.

LifeMatters care management experts and advisors have spent many decades working with families in need of home care help. In our experience, we have found that family members who need care, or are close to needing care, often feel embarrassed or fear a loss of independence and freedom.

We deal with these transitions ever day, are here to help guide you in having these conversations, and most importantly, make it easy to get the help you need.
